    Pear Essence Cosmopolitan

Autumn’s best inspires new tradition in this classic favorite.

    • 2 d’Anjou pear slices
    • Juice of 1/2 a pressed lime
    • 1 ounce cranberry juice
    • 1 1/2 ounces citrus vodka
    • 1/2 ounce triple sec
    • 3 cranberries (for garnish)

In mixing glass, muddle pear slices, lime juice, and cranberry juice. Add vodka and triple sec. Add ice to tin. Shake well. Double-strain into glass, using the strainer over the shaker while pouring contents through a sieve placed over the glass.

Garnish with 3 cranberries on a cocktail pick.

The Cosmopolitan got its start between 1956 and 1970, when Ocean Spray began to include cocktail recipes on the label of its fruit juice containers. The original version, known as the Harpoon, was made with vodka, cranberry juice, and lime. Later, triple sec was added and the drink was newly dubbed the Cosmopolitan. The drink was popularized in the 1990s by the television series sex and the city.
