    Gibson with Homemade Cocktail Onions

Homemade cocktail onions are perfect in a Martini and make a wonderful hostess gift.

Rinse the inside of cocktail glass with dry vermouth by swirling vermouth on inside of glass and pouring it out, leaving only residue in the glass. Add gin to mixing glass. Add ice to tin. Shake well. Strain into seasoned cocktail glass.

Garnish with 2 Homemade Cocktail Onions on a pick.

The Gibson cocktail is named after an American diplomat who served in Europe during Prohibition. He was described as a teetotaller who attended many events where Martinis were served. To avoid drinking, he requested that his glass of water be garnished with an onion, so he could easily distinguish it from the other cocktails.
