The weather is cooling down and it’s starting to get darker a lot earlier here in New York City meaning one thing: fall is officially here. While the timeframe for the season occurs at different times all over the world, here in the United States it generally begins with the autumnal equinox in late September.
No season is more connected with the celebration of food then the fall harvest when crops are collected and stored for the winter and summer fruits and veggies begin to slowly disappear from our produce stands. Autumn brings a range of intense flavors and colors with its variety of crops from apples, grapes and mushrooms to members of the squash and cabbage family including turnips, radishes, broccoli and one of the symbols of fall: the pumpkin.
